Submission Guidelines

Submissions now open: The Queens Review 2026 Issue


Submission window: October 15 – December 15, 2025

Eligibility: Anyone not currently enrolled in the Queens College MFA program. 

Must be 18+.

Note: Submissions must be previously unpublished. We accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately if a piece has been accepted elsewhere. Our commitment to diversity is reflected in both the writers we support and the stories we publish. We make space for underrepresented voices ( LGBTQIA+ voices, voices of color, etc.). Strong language is fine—abusive language is not. We welcome international submissions!

AI-generated work is not accepted.


Fee: $3 per submission

Fiction Submissions

📖 Fiction: (1) story that’s 2,000-4,000 words max

Poetry Submissions

✍️ Poetry: Up to 3 poems, no more than 6 pages max (we may choose to publish 1+ submission)

Art Submissions

🎨 Visual Art: Up to 3 pieces of visual art submitted in one single Word Doc or as individual JPEGs.

Translation Submissions

 🌍 Translation: Your translation into English, following the word/page limits appropriate to the genre of your submission (prose, poetry) in one single file in doc.

Creative Nonfiction Submissions

🖋️ Creative Nonfiction: (1) essay or nonfiction novel excerpt that’s 2,000-4,000 words max

Submission details:

All work must be submitted as a single Word doc or PDF file (JPEG for artwork is OK) and must include a title. Label your doc with your Last Name and Piece Title (Ex: Jones.TheRock) 

With your submission, include a Cover Letter that details the following: 

  • Full Name
  • Location (ex: NYC, LA, Chicago)
  • Contact Email
  • A short bio (150-200 words)
  • Social Media handles, a website, or online portfolio 

Whether you’re experimenting with form, pushing boundaries, or simply telling a story that needs to be told, we want to see your work!
